Morristown Rotary Seeks Used Bikes and Sewing Machines for Donation Drive

On October 25, 2025, the Morristown Rotary Club will host a special collection event at the Morristown Municipal Building, 200 South Street. The event runs from 9 AM to 12 PM.

They’re gathering adult and kids’ bicycles (rust-free, flat tires are fine) and working portable sewing machines. The goal? Support communities overseas that really need these tools.

The club asks for a $20 donation per item to help cover shipping. Can’t make it that day? You can drop off donations at Marty’s Reliable Cycle instead.

Why Donate Your Used Bicycles and Sewing Machines?

Donating used bikes and sewing machines can make a real difference in developing countries. These items, which many of us barely think about, can change lives abroad.

The Benefits of Donating Bicycles

Bikes aren’t just for getting around—they’re a lifeline for many. Here’s why:

  • Improved Mobility: Bikes give people an affordable way to reach work, school, and markets.
  • Economic Opportunities: With better transportation, folks can take jobs that were out of reach before.
  • Health Benefits: Riding a bike gets people moving and can boost health.

The Importance of Sewing Machines

Portable sewing machines can be game-changers for communities. They bring several benefits:

  • Economic Empowerment: Sewing machines help people—often women—start small businesses and earn money.
  • Skill Development: Learning to sew opens doors to new skills and growth.
  • Community Support: Sewing machines let people make clothes, uniforms, and essentials for others.
